CCHR Africa was invited to participate in a community hike against Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF) at Rietvlei Zoo Farm, Johannesburg. The event was organised by the Lerole brothers of the well-known band Kwela Tebza, together with their sister, Princess Carol, a member of the African Monarch Group.
The event brought together members of the community who are committed to raising awareness and supporting positive change. We had the opportunity to meet many inspiring individuals, including a well-known writer, a talented painter, and Chef Nare, who featured in the event’s promotional video. They all signed our petition calling for improvements to South Africa’s current mental health legislation.
CCHR Africa addressed approximately 100 participants before the hike, speaking about the importance of protecting human rights in the field of mental health, particularly for children. We also distributed educational pamphlets, collected petition signatures, and established valuable new connections that will support future community initiatives.
Princess Carol and the Lerole brothers expressed their willingness to work with CCHR Africa on future projects, especially those focused on protecting children from inappropriate psychiatric drugging.
