On 18 July 2026, CCHR Africa was honoured to attend the International Mandela Day Leadership Summit held at Freedom Park in Pretoria.
The event brought together ambassadors from various countries, representatives from the South African government, universities, community organisations, and members of the public to celebrate Nelson Mandela’s enduring legacy of human rights, service, and social justice.
CCHR Africa was invited as a guest by the event organisers, providing an excellent opportunity to connect with influential leaders and organisations committed to improving communities across South Africa.
During the event, CCHR Africa established valuable new lines of communication with representatives from several local organisations, laying the foundation for future partnerships that will help expand our human rights education and outreach efforts.
One of the highlights of the day was meeting Ganief Hendricks, who expressed interest in meeting with CCHR Africa to discuss future collaboration. CCHR Africa also had the opportunity to connect with Prof. Mammo Muchie, whose interest in CCHR’s work has opened the door to future discussions.
These new relationships represent an important step in expanding CCHR Africa’s network of partners dedicated to protecting human rights and promoting informed choices in mental health care.
We look forward to developing these connections and continuing to work with leaders across government, academia, and civil society to advance human rights throughout South Africa.
