There’s no doubt that many parents need help. Whether it is the school complaining about their child’s behavior, or the parent observing emotional or educational problems. The problem is parents are being told their child has a “mental disorder” and needs “medication” but are not being given all the facts about these psychiatric labels (mental disorders) or the drugs being prescribed to ‘treat’ their children.
“We do not have an independent, valid test for ADHD, and there is no data to indicate that ADHD is due to a brain malfunction.” -
National Institute of Health (NIH) Consensus Statement.
Before ANY doctor/physician can prescribe any drug to a patient, he has to follow exact procedures as laid out in the Health Act.
Diagnosis (to distinguish) – the art or act of identifying a disease from its signs and symptoms.
Symptom – something that indicates the existence of something else. Subjective evidence of disease or physical disturbance.
Disease – an impairment (damage; diminish in strength) of the normal state of the living body that affects the performance of the vital functions. Objective, tangible abnormality.
Diagnosis in medicine has 2 distinct phases:
Phase 1. Determine is there a physical abnormality/disease, YES or NO?
Subjective evidence: The first thing any physician does is take a history; but the history provides reportage from the patient and family and is subjective, however it suggests to the physician whether or not disease will be found. History is always subjective.
Objective evidence: Only when examination (look, smell, feel, listen, x-ray, chemical, blood tests, etc.) commences is objective evidence adduced and with the physical examination the physician may hear a significant murmur, see a skin abnormality, see/feel a lump of belly wall, see swelling of legs, be able to say: YES an abnormality/disease is present BUT NOTHING MORE. It is the first part of diagnosis which says YES or NO an abnormality/disease is present (disease = objective, tangible abnormality).
If the answer is NO – patient is discharged (not a medical patient).
If the answer is YES, proceed to second phase.
Phase 2. Having found an objective abnormality, the second part of diagnosis asks “which disease (of the many possibilities?)” - the physician proceeds with further exams and testing such as CT scans, or X Rays, or biopsy, or microscope exam of tissues, etc.
When an abnormality/disease (objective, tangible abnormality) is found, specifically defined, the following needs to be done:
- Proceed to informed consent
- Full explanationof abnormality/disease
- Every available treatment and how each available treatment can favourably alter the risk/benefit
- Patient/parent gives informed consent for one or more treatments
By way of informed consent, physician must tell how the abnormality/disease will act with no treatment.
If your physician diagnosed your child as ADD or ADHD or depressed or Bi Polar, or any other psychiatric disorder/condition/chemical imbalance, beware of such statements or conclusions. Those conditions are not physical defects. They cannot be objectively demonstrated – none is a proved disease. Nowhere in any medical record is a pathology found for ADHD or any other psychiatric disorder. If ADHD is the reason (disease) given for prescribing a drug (such as Ritalin), YOU HAVE A LIE AND A FRAUD committed by the physician. Before any patient is labelled any psychiatric disorder (eg. ADHD), the patient should have had medical examinations ruling out all organic diseases, diabetes, mid ear infections, brain tumours, blocked colons, candida, heavy metal intoxication, nutrition deficiencies, etc. In every case of ADHD examination done by Dr Fred Baughman (Pediatric Neurologist), their medical records disclosed NO evidence of a physical abnormality disease which meant NO ORGANIC DISEASE WHATSOEVER EXISTED.
If your child is prescribed a drug for any psychiatric disorder, ensure your doctor provides evidence of pathology (means abnormality/disease).
The lies told by a physician to a parent on the treatment and the medication recommended and prescribed which was Ritalin:
- Lie 1. Ritalin is totally non addictive
- Lie 2. Ritalin has no effect on the brain
- Lie 3. Ritalin has no effect on any organs in the body at all. It is not metabolized in any organ in the body. It is handled completely in the blood
- Lie 4. Ritalin is completely safe and harmless
- Lie 5. Ritalin has no direct effect on the brain tissues and chemicals
If your physician told you any of the above or anything else that is contrary to evidence on the validity of psychiatric disorders as being diseases so drugs can be prescribed, and you wish to take action or lodge a complaint, fill out an abuse form.
TEACHERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SUGGEST MEDICATION
It is against the law for anyone other than a registered physician to diagnose any disease and prescribe medication.
Some teachers are advising or recommending to parents that their hyperactive children or their children with learning difficulties need to be medicated and provide very convincing reasons why. They are not qualified to make such statements and are actually committing a criminal offence. There are even schools who will not admit children unless they are medicated. This alone is a human right violation and needs to be reported. If you wish to take action or lodge a complaint, contact us here.
